As a USAID alumnus, you know first-hand that helping has always been a part of our agency’s ethos. We represent the American people and their generosity through our work around the world — alleviating suffering and expanding opportunity for those in greatest need. The Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) now allows retirees to join us here at USAID to continue that same spirit to the many charities working in our communities, across our country, and around the world. Yes, now you can join us and other public servants from across the Federal Government to support thousands of vetted charities working to eradicate hunger, poverty, eradicate diseases, invest in education, and support other important causes. And because of your past generosity, USAID has been historically generous in giving to the CFC.
I’m excited to announce that the 2019 National Capital Area CFC has begun. Mike Harvey, Assistant Administrator for the Bureau for the Middle East, and Ramsey Day, Senior Deputy Assistant Administrator for the Bureau for Africa, are leading USAID’s campaign efforts. This year the DC Area CFC aims to raise $34 million, and we at USAID are counting on you to help us raise $315,000.
The theme for this year’s campaign is Show Some Love. We hope you will help us show some love by making a one-time monetary contribution or pledging your time to support the USAID CFC campaign using this link, https://cfcnca.org/how-make-pledge. You can also make a pledge using this downloadable paper form.
We will also soon invite your members to our agency’s formal CFC Kick-off, once the date is set. It is tentatively planned for early November. I hope that some of you will join us for what will be a fun and informative event here at the Ronald Reagan Building. And, the kick-off would be a great time for those who want to hand in their donation paper forms.
