Appointment of New Assistant Administrator

I’m pleased to share that President Biden has appointed Colleen Allen to serve as USAID’s Assistant Administrator for the Bureau for Management, responsible for the oversight and management of the Bureau and the provision of administrative and management support services for the Agency.

I invite you to join a Live stream of Colleen’s swearing in ceremony on Thursday, August 12 at 3:45 p.m., via this hyperlink (https://primetime.bluejeans.com/a2m/live-event/wyjrvvxq), to celebrate this exciting moment with Colleen and her family.

Colleen is no stranger to this role or to public service; she has more than 20 years of experience in the public sector, including previous service at USAID, most recently as the Acting Assistant Administrator in the Bureau for Management.

Colleen has also served as Deputy Assistant Administrator for the Bureau for Management, Deputy Chief of Staff and Senior Policy Advisor in the Office of the Administrator, and Director in the Office of Management Policy, Budget, and Performance. While in the Office of the Administrator, Colleen provided direction and leadership to establish the Agency’s first Executive Diversity Council charged with expanding employee diversity and fostering inclusiveness. She also previously held positions in the former Bureau for Europe and New Independent States and the former Global Bureau. Colleen received her Bachelor’s degree in languages and linguistics from Georgetown University and her Master’s degree in public administration from George Mason University.

I look forward to working with Colleen to strengthen the Agency and to give you the support and backing you need to tackle the world’s toughest challenges. I know Colleen will continue to push the Agency toward its goals while representing the values of the Biden-Harris Administration. We will provide regular updates on incoming Agency leadership. Thank you for your support as we build our team and work together to advance our mission.

Administrator Samantha Power
